Improver

Handbuilding

At the improver stage, you’ll already have experience with basic handbuilding techniques and want to develop greater consistency, precision, and control in your work.

The focus here is on refining techniques such as creating even walls, consistent coils or slabs, and smooth joins, as well as exploring slightly larger or more complex forms like vases, boxes, or combined structures.

You may also start experimenting with surface texture and combining multiple techniques to achieve stronger, more stable forms.

The aim at this stage is to help you produce reliable, well-constructed pieces while building technical confidence in handbuilding.
