Refiner

Handbuilding

At the refiner stage, the focus is on perfecting technique and problem-solving to create technically strong, precise, and consistent pieces.

You’ll work on challenges such as constructing larger or more intricate forms, ensuring uniform thickness, improving joins, and maintaining stability during drying and firing.

There is also an emphasis on troubleshooting common issues, such as warping or cracking, and developing strategies to prevent them.

The aim is to help you achieve a confident, controlled handbuilding practice where your technical skills allow you to execute complex forms successfully and consistently.
